2. a person or thing that takes an active role or produces a specified effect.
synonyms: Spokesperson, representative, agent of change.
We can conclude from this brief dictionary definition that an agent of Satan would be working on Satan’s behalf. He would be doing his bidding and promoting his agenda. Satan has agents everywhere. They could be living next door, working with you during the day or even sitting next to you right now. For all I know you may be an agent of Satan yourself!
We are all agents of something in some form or another. Whether that be strong personal convictions in a belief or product or service and so on. We may even be passionate about a sports team, a hobby or a famous person. We tent to promote things that mean much to us or things we think are important for others to know. We even advertise these things on our bodies with T-Shirts and the like. Our chests can become advertising space to large corporations, and we pay them high prices for the privilege!
In the spiritual realm we are either agents of good or of evil. Few would like to be known as agents of evil, but sadly, in God’s eyes, most of us are. God declares in Psalm 14:
‘The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.’
Unless you are on the LORD’s side promoting the good news of Jesus Christ, then you are an agent of Satan and an agent of Hell. For the Bible declares of Jesus Christ:
‘Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.’ Acts 4:12
We are all born into sin and grow up to be sinners, adding wrongdoing (i.e. disobeying God’s Ten Commandments) and evil imaginations constantly to our sin record. God provided one way to have our sin record wiped clean and, amazing as it seems, this enables us to become sinless heirs of heaven! This leads us to become ‘ambassadors for Christ’ (i.e. agents) in that we represent Christ and His mission here on earth.
We are not to become secret agents, as some become, hiding the gospel light, which is the greatest gift to mankind, but we are to become active agents for good in this earth. Satan wants to cause all people to rebel against God and to be sent to Hell. Satan and his many helpers (i.e. demon spirits or willing men/women) are very active in destroying the truth about God. They want you and your family dead and sent to Hell forever. You cannot let this happen, but if you are silent or promote anything but God’s saving plan for mankind, then what kind of agent are you?
When one promotes the unproven theory of Evolution over the plain words of God, then they are acting as agents of Hell.
If one disobeys the standards of God and teach others to do the same through example and speech, then they are an agent of Hell and worthy of it.
This world is suffering because of sin, corruption and wickedness. Ask yourself, are you a part of the disease or a part of the cure? Are you recruiting people for God through Christ or are you promoting the temporal things of this world to the damnation of others? Perhaps you are promoting false religion that can never save a man, but ‘make him twofold more the child of hell than [yourself]’
Decide what type of agent you are today. You will find that whatever you decide there will be rewards. An agent of Hell gets to spend eternity in agonising eternal punishment. An agent of Heaven not only has a rewarding life in Heaven to look forward to, but also rewards of God for their service here on earth.
Whatever you decide, make it known who’s side you are on. There is no middle ground in a battle of good and evil, you have to pick a side. You cannot serve two masters. To be an agent of Hell, you do not need to do anything. To make your damnation even worse you could join the church of Satan or practice witchcraft, but this would be highly dangerous to both you, and those you recruit.
To become an agent of Jesus Christ you need to repent of (turn away from) all known sins against God and accept Jesus as both Lord and Saviour of your life. It is your faith in Jesus that will save you from the coming future judgement that will fall on all mankind, rich or poor, small or great.
The Bible declares:
‘For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.’ Ephesians 2:8-9
‘Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.’ John 14:6
You have no other way to God the father, but by His only son Jesus Christ, who he had sacrificed on a cross and made guilty of the dark sins of sinners like me and like you. Pray to him today and ask him for mercy!
Enlist into the army of God and become an agent of His gospel (good news).
If you know your sins are forgiven by God, recruit others to the family, knowing that you will spend eternity with them in Heaven, and even be rewarded for your efforts with treasure in Heaven.
Be a force for good in this world as an agent of God, not a Hellish agent of Satan.
