SIDE 2: Who do you see? Ask the average person today what their concept of God is, and they often reply by saying: “To me God is like this…” . The danger is in the phrase “to me.” When we have a concept of God that isn’t based on truth (but rather what we imagine Him to be), we are guilty of breaking the Second of the Ten Commandments: ” Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image” (Exodus 20:4). The Bible warns that: “idolaters…shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8) The real God of the Bible will also punish liars, thieves, adulterers, blasphemers, murderers, and even those who disobey and dishonour their parents. Don’t be caught in your sin on Judgment Day – God has provided a way for you to be saved: “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) What will you do? Will you keep the false image of God until you face Him in His burning holiness on Judgment Day? Or will you forsake that idol, repent (confess and turn from all sin) and trust in the REAL Saviour?
